YARAT is a contemporary art platform dedicated to developing and promoting contemporary art within Azerbaijan, while also showcasing Azerbaijani art abroad. Since its inception, YARAT has focused on introducing contemporary art to the Azerbaijani public through workshops and exhibitions, as well as to run various art programmes to bring together young local artists and support and promote their work.
YARAT’s main venue is the YARAT Contemporary Art Centre on the Baku Boulevard near Flag Square, which is a luxurious exhibition space that opened in 2015 in a converted warehouse formerly used for ship maintenance. The site hosts a wide range of exhibitions, demonstrations, performances and educational events throughout the year. Additional events and exhibitions are held at YARAT’s other venues, including the ARTIM Project Space, YAY Gallery, and the Museum of Azerbaijani Painting of the XX–XXI Centuries. The YARAT Contemporary Art Centre welcomes visitors every day except Monday, from 10am to 6pm.
