YARAT is a contemporary art platform that works to develop and promote contemporary art inside Azerbaijan, as well as to promote Azerbaijani art outside the country. Since its inception, YARAT's main goals have been to introduce contemporary art to the Azerbaijani public through workshops and exhibitions, as well as to run various art programmes to bring together young local artists and support and promote their work.
YARAT’s main venue is the YARAT Contemporary Art Centre on the Baku Boulevard near Flag Square, which is a luxurious exhibition space that opened in 2015 in a converted warehouse formerly used for ship maintenance. The site hosts a variety of exhibitions, demonstrations, performances and educational events throughout the year. More interesting events and exhibitions happen at various times of the year at YARAT’s other venues: the ARTIM Project Space, YAY Gallery and Museum of Azerbaijani Painting of the XX-XXI Centuries. The YARAT Contemporary Art Centre is open to visitors every day of the week except Mondays from 10am to 6pm.
