Carmen embodies an untamed force of freedom and desire that cannot be subdued or corrected. The play explores the depth of human passions, moral choices, and the consequences of uncontrollable feelings that inevitably lead to tragedy.

The Oil Boom Smiles on Everyone

This event is available as QR tickets or as physical tickets sold at city box offices. QR tickets will be activated on the day of the event. To use your QR tickets, you need to log into your personal account in the iTicket.AZ mobile application.More about QR tickets: QR ticket “The Oil Boom Smiles at Everyone” Age restriction: 18+Author: Maksud Ibragimbekov (People’s Writer)Director: Konstantin Soldatov (Golden Mask Award laureate)Cast:Honored Artists Shovgi Huseynov, Rasim Jafar, Elnur Bahramkhan;Actors Bahram Aliheydar, Asya Atakishiyeva, Sabina Mammadzade, Kerem Hadizade, Nurlan Suleymanli, Manaf Dadashov, Shabnam Huseynova, Rashad Safarov, Umman Budagov, Mirzaaga Mirzayev, Ramiq Nasirov, Adalat Abdulsamad, Mehriban Huseynova, Jeyhun Mammadov, Natig Farzaliyev, Huseyn BayramovGenre: comicDuration: one act, 1 hour 20 minutes Based on the work of People’s Writer Maksud Ibragimbekov, “The Oil Boom Smiles at Everyone” depicts the activities of Baku’s millionaires during the early stage of oil refining, their position above social and public processes, and the personal and political views of the era’s leading forces. At its core, the main character of the performance is HUMAN BEING — one’s stance in life and inner desires. According to the protagonist Seymur, freedom, brotherhood, and equality cannot find their way to Baku, because it is a swamp where influence and connections mean power, and those who possess them are considered the true masters of life. Seymur’s ideas of freedom were formed back in St. Petersburg, where he maintained close ties with revolutionaries. After returning to Baku, he continues to support the liberation movement, unaware of how the financial resources are actually being used. This allows the gendarmerie rotmistr Kasimbeyov to issue warnings to Seymur. In reality, Kasimbeyov’s goal is to destroy Seymur, seize the fortune of his wealthy wife, and suppress the freedom movement. To achieve this, he meets Seymur’s wife Aisha, poisons the atmosphere of their home, and draws her into his web of intrigue. Witnessing their betrayal, Seymur shoots Kasimbeyov, confesses his guilt, and is imprisoned… So why does the Oil Boom smile against the backdrop of all these events?Because of ignorant figures like Kasimbeyov, the light that the oil boom could have spread across the homeland is blocked — the very light that illuminates homes and streets in Europe. Yet thanks to patriots like Seymur and Peter, people look to tomorrow with hope, live with dignity, and face the future with optimism. As geologist Peter puts it, happiness lies in faith. And it is through that faith that today the oil boom smiles at everyone. Presented in the comic genre, the performance is accompanied by illustrations that convey a life story and vivid scenes born from the authentic truth of its characters.
