gutab-makingmasterclasses
A trip to Azerbaijan, especially Baku, is not complete until you have tried gutabs, the succulent folded pastries with a range of different fillings that are one of the most distinguishable hallmarks of Azerbaijani cuisine.
Particularly convenient to eat on the go, visitors to Azerbaijan will find a street stall selling gutabs at almost every turn, just as popular with locals as tourists.
While masterclasses with specialist chefs and other open events are usually organised through private guides, there’s also another intriguing option open to visitors – you can simply visit a local restaurant and watch the chefs at work. It is even possible to participate in the cooking process, but make sure to ask permission first! Many restaurants will invite you to spread the filling and fold the gutabs yourself.
