Sheki Wines Museumhistory blended with wine
Housed within the Sheki Wines (Az Abrau) factory, this museum of wine takes you on a journey into the heart of winemaking, showcasing the meticulous care of vineyards, the intricate process of grape pressing and the art of wine ageing. The museum exhibits offer a fascinating glimpse into this specialist world of viniculture. On display are collections of wine bottles, vintage labels, rare photographs and paintings. Replicas of ancient wine vessels, alongside artefacts unearthed in Azerbaijani archaeological excavations, as well as a host of other intriguing items, narrate the rich history of the region’s viticulture.
Particularly popular with visitors are the museum’s range of tours that cover the museum itself and the production process at the Az Abrau factory. Wine lovers can choose from different tours that include a basic option without tasting, tasting of local wines (including the white sparkling Brut and semi-sweet ‘Abrau 1870’) and tasting of Russian-made wines (including ‘Abrau Durso’ and ‘Brut D'Or Rosé’). Both wine tasting tours include complementary olives, breadsticks and a cheese plate to enhance the tasting experience.
