through the mist of timea traditional hammam experience
Abdulkhalig Hamam is a public bathhouse in Sheki. The historical roots of the hammam date back to the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. According to the legend, the hammam was constructed in response to the need to find a place for a bathhouse in the local neighbourhood, and a barber named Abdulkhalig built this hammam for the comfort and convenience of female residents living in the area. On the Arabic plaque on the facade wall, particularly noteworthy are the description of barber instruments - a razor and scissors - and the famous character Mashadi Ibad from the operetta “O olmasin, bu olsun” (“If Not This One, That One”) by Uzeyir Hajibeyli.
The hammam is open for men on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and for women on Thursdays and Saturdays. You will definitely feel rejuvenated and surprised at how refreshed your skin is after using the spa's full-body scrubbing and massage services.
