a trip to the village of Simthe pearl of Astara

It is not a secret that the Talysh mountains have a mysterious nature. Sim village of Astara is also located in the heart of Talysh mountains. The name of the village sitting on the Ancient Silk Way and surrounded by megalith raft stones is translated from the Talysh language as a village located on a rock.

Through the untouched nature of this village, you will feel like a traveler discovering new places, wandering past the remains of thousands of years old trees, rocks, and historical buildings. The smiles on the faces of the hospitable locals will leave a lasting impression on your heart. The population of the village is mainly engaged in beekeeping, vegetable growing and cattle breeding.

Sim village has a unique and distinctive atmosphere. This is due to the large old trees and tall mossy-covered rocks between and around the houses in the village. The village has a strange magical atmosphere, as in fairy tales. If you go to the end of the village, you will have a wonderful surprise, this is Sim Waterfalls. Around the waterfall you can have a picnic or drink the local Astara tea made in Samovar. To get to the waterfall, you will be accompanied by UAZ and Niva cars organized by the local population. So the difficult and narrow paths will give you a real sense of adventure. Two more waterfalls are located nearby.

In addition, on the way to the village of Sim, you can see the landscape in the reservoir (Ojakaran village, in the entrance of Sim village), which opens to perfect beauty. Another interesting place in Sim village is the White Bridge. Here you can sit in the middle of the river, taste the local Astara tea with local desserts and jams and enjoy the view.
Mandarin orchards along the way will make a good impression on you, and if you visit during the season, you can also buy mandarins in the orchards. Moreover, stopping the car and watching the endless breathtaking view of the Caspian Sea from the top of the mountain should be also on the bucket list.
