thermal watersat Daridag
Scientific research, which began in the mid-19th century, has revealed that the mineralised alkaline water from the Daridag springs is high in salt content and has a unique medicinal effect.
Although the springs themselves were discovered in the 15th century, no health resorts existed in this area until the mid-20th century. The first sanatorium was built here only in 1978, initially comprising only 5 baths. In 2005, two additional buildings were constructed that can accommodate about 25-30 patients at a time.
Interestingly, the water temperature at the source reaches 52°C, but the therapeutic baths do not exceed 37-41°C. All these characteristics distinguish the water at Daridag not only within the Caucasus, but also among natural arsenic springs found throughout the world. Bathing in these rare waters helps in the treatment of rheumatism and skin conditions (such as scabies, jaundice and pyoderma), nervous disorders and musculoskeletal diseases.
