learn to windsurfon the Caspian Sea
Windsurfing Baku is stationed at the Ramada by Wyndham Baku hotel 15km from Baku, on the southern coast of the Absheron Peninsula. It’s been operating for the past five years and provides training for everyone from beginners to experienced surfers, in addition to sail and board equipment rental. The hotel also has a nice private beach, swimming pool and special recreation area.
The training season begins in late April and lasts until the end of October. Preliminary training begins on the beach and consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. First you learn theoretical knowledge, the types of surfing and principles of sailing and windsurfing. Special attention is paid to safety and self-rescue rules. The next step is practical training: how to hold the sails at right angles, which you learn on a special simulator, and how to balance on the surfboard. The course is designed to make learning to windsurf as quick and easy as possible.
Altogether, this beginner training lasts 2.5 hours and you can then book additional lessons to upgrade your skills. Intermediate and advanced lessons are also available. Once you’ve mastered the basics you are free to head out on the board and enjoy the Caspian’s calm waters and cool breezes, under the professional staff’s close supervision of course.
