Tugh is located conveniently close to incredibly significant archaeological sites, such as the Palaeolithic Azikh and Taghlar caves, which are invaluable to both Azerbaijani and world history. Archaeological excavations in Azikh Cave have revealed the lower jawbone of an ancient human dating back 350,000-400,000 years, underscoring the area’s long history of human habitation.
Various other sites mark the presence of major civilisations in the Tugh area, highlighting the village's ancient roots and historical importance. Gtishvang Monastery Complex, an episcopal centre in the 8th century, expanded in the 13th century and became one of the most famous monastery complexes in the Caucasus. The Arched Bridge over the River Guruchay, built in the 18th century, is another important architectural monument. Saint John's Church, the oldest of the three early Christian churches in Tugh, offers fantastic views of the village and surrounding mountains.
Recent efforts have been made to restore and preserve the village's historical heritage. In 2023, Tugh State Historical, Cultural and Natural Reserve was established to protect the architectural style characteristic of the Karabakh region and to develop Tugh as a cultural tourism destination
