Besides skiing and snowboarding, the Shahdag Mountain Resort offers another great activity to experience the feel of snow beneath your feet which is available for all ages – snowshoeing! During snowshoeing sessions, Shahdag’s friendly instructors teach you basic outdoor skills such as how to go up and down hills, traverse slopes, use poles, how to get up after you fall in deep snow and how to avoid and prepare for avalanches. All the required gear, including snowshoes, poles and appropriate clothing, is available to rent at the Shahdag ski shop.
The resort has two snowshoeing routes for you to experience. One of them is a short one for beginners, totalling 1.2km in length, starting at Zirve Hotel and ascending 210m towards Shahdag Hotel & Spa. You can follow the route in the opposite direction as well. The other snowshoeing route is longer, continuing for around 3.8km, and starts from Zirve Hotel before descending 215m towards the eastern part of the resort, where there are no skiers. This route is designed for more experienced snowshoers who can already walk smoothly up and down hills.
For absolute beginners, there are flat areas at the resort where you and your loved ones can enjoy fun games like tic tac snow, ice bowling, snowball throwing contests and much more!
