This 2.3 km route is ideal for nature enthusiasts, offering both beautiful views and a comfortable walking experience. At the foot of Zangezur National Park, celebrated for its rich flora and fauna, this trail begins near Zorbulag and quickly unfolds into the mesmerizing mountain and lake vistas of the Batabat plateau. Lush green meadows, open foothills, and crisp mountain air accompany travelers throughout the journey.
It starts from the left side of the information board near Ashaghi (Lower) Batabat Lake and runs along the lake’s right bank. Lush green meadows, wide mountain foothills, and pure mountain air accompany travellers on their route.
The trail winds for about 800 m along the serene shore of Yukhari (Upper) Batabat Lake, guiding you toward the base of rugged cliffs. Another 1.3 km ahead lies Ashaghi Batabat Lake, a tranquil mirror cradled in the mountains, where the pure beauty of nature is perfectly reflected, inspiring you with fresh energy to continue your adventure.

Food and accommodation
There are no stores along the trail. However, in Bichenek village, the final stop before the route, two stores are available. Hikers can stay in the village’s rental houses or in cottages at the Batabat Recreation Centre. If you plan to camp overnight, be sure to bring a tent and other necessary equipment.

A spring can be found at the start of the route.
Transportation
From Nakhchivan city, Batabat can be reached by taxi or private vehicle. The route to the starting point is fully paved and suitable for any car.
Caution
Be careful when driving to the point where the trail meets the paved road. When the lake freezes, the ice may be dangerously thin, so stepping onto it is not recommended.
