Terra Madregastronomy festival

where tradition meets flavourdiscover Slow Food in Shaki

Every food has a story to tell, from the land where it grows to the hands that prepare it. This October, discover Shaki through the stories carried in its flavors. The UNESCO World Heritage city will host Terra Madre Shaki, bringing the global Slow Food movement to Azerbaijan on a large scale for the first time.

From October 11 to 12, Shaki will become a stage for local producers and masters of their culinary craft to showcase their traditions. Visitors are invited to attend the opening ceremony at 12:00 on October 11, featuring speeches by national and international representatives of the Slow Food movement, and followed by a parade of farmers to mark the official start of Terra Madre Shaki. Guests can participate in degustation sessions, try their hand at culinary techniques during masterclasses, exchange ideas in roundtables, purchase unique local products, enjoy the cultural program, and more. Farmers, artisans, and researchers, alongside international experts and food lovers, will come together to celebrate Azerbaijan’s culinary heritage, and look into the future to preserve it.

The event will take place across Shaki’s historic centre throughout the weekend, with free admission. Degustation bracelets and local products will be available for purchase.
