Alpine Coasteron the slopes of Shahdag
The Shahdag Mountain Resort in the northern Gusar region opened in 2012 as the first ski resort in Azerbaijan. Since then it has developed into a superb all-round tourism centre with a wide range of activities in both winter and summer. One of the most exciting attractions here, open in all seasons, is the new Alpine Coaster – the only mountain coaster in the Caucasus.
Located at 1,430 metres above sea level, the coaster features a 1670m track with 9 thrilling turns, allowing adrenaline seekers the unique opportunity to experience the stunning mountain scenery, snow-covered in winter and perfectly green in summer, while zooming down at 42km/h. The 50 sleds installed on the attraction allow 300-350 people to use it per hour.
Tickets for the ride can be purchased at the Shahdag Hotel & Spa and Zirve hotels. Before using the attraction, which is open to children over 3 years old, the staff will familiarise you with the safety instructions.
