Merge into the masterpieces of Azerbaijani classic music at the Uzeyir Hajibeyli International Music Festival

The annual Uzeyir Hajibeyli International Music Festival took place this year in Baku from 18th to 26th September. This marvellous festival is a celebration of the national music and genius of his art - Uzeir Hajibeyli

Known for his incredible talent, Uzeyir Hajibeyli is the composer who contributed to the global music heritage. He is an author of the first opera in the Islamic World (“Leyli and Majnun”), he composed the national anthem of Azerbaijan and created a number of masterpieces still loved by thousands of people. In his honour, every year the 18th of September is celebrated as the day of his music, with the continuing feast at the annual festival

This year musicians from all over the world, including US, Norway, France, Austria, Germany, Türkiye, Greece, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Hungary, Russia, Japan, South Korea and Georgia were invited to participate in the 14th edition of the festival. Musicians took over the best stages in the country such as Azerbaijan National Conservatory, Baku Music Academy, Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic Hall, International Mugham Centre among many others. Besides, within the framework of the festival, a number of events took place in the cities of Shusha, Ganja, Barda and Aghjabadi. Guests of the festival also had an opportunity to enjoy online and offline exhibitions, film screening, master class, plays and operas.

Visiting such a unique festival is one of the best ways to dive into the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan and the whole eastern world. Azerbaijan offers a lot more in its every region. The second-biggest city of Ganja, also invites everyone to learn more about history and travel to the lake Goygol located nearby. At the national Goygol park, travellers can enjoy the unique flora and fauna, as well as go hiking.
