“Ateshgah the Fire Worshippers Temple” was built in 17th and 18th centuries is the most fascinating place in Absheron peninsula. The temple ceased to be a place of worship after 1883 with the installation of petroleum plants at Surakhany. The complex was turned into a museum in 1975. The annual number of visitors to the museum is 15,000.
You will learn legends about Burning Mountain - Yanardag, the most famous 'eternal flame' in Azerbaijan; it was lit in the 1950s by a shepherd on the side of the hill. It is one of the few fire mountains that exist today. Yanardag Mountain with natural gas burning for several thousands of years.
We’ll continue our tour to Gobustan National Park - officially Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape is a hill and mountain site occupying the southeast end of the Greater Caucasus mountain ridge. It is located west of the settlement of Gobustan, about 40 miles (64 km) southwest of Baku city center on the west bank of the Caspian Sea.
