  • 750-year-old Plane-Tree (Platanus orientalis)

    A miracle of nature a 750-year-old plane tree (sycamore) grows in the city of Zagatala on the central square of Dede Gorgud. The tree-long-liver feels great, has lush crown and attracts the attention of residents and visitors of the city. The tree is 370 cm in diameter, and 35 meters high. Around the plane tree there are benches for people to rest. Note that the plane trees are listed in the "Red Book" ofAzerbaijanRepublic.

  • Zagatala Reserve

    Formed in 1929, Zagatala Reserve is located on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus mountain range and covers an area of 25,200 hectares. On its territory there are over 800 species of plants: chestnut, walnut, hazelnut, oak, beech, hornbeam, elm and other valuable species. The reserve is home to 37 species of mammals (deer, wild boar, brown bears, martens, badgers, wild cats, lynx), 8 species of amphibians, 12 species of reptiles and 104 species of birds. Within the reserve there are favorable conditions for the development of eco-tourism.
