• M.A. Sabir House Museum

    Sabir, Azerbaijani poet and satirist, was born in Shamakhi, in 1862. He was one of the authors of the satirical "Molla Nasraddin" magazine, where he exposed the backward way of life of the environment, the ignorance of the clergy, and the darkness of backward laity.M.A.SabirHouseMuseumin Shamakhi was established in 1998 on the site of the house where he was born. It has 7 exhibition halls and about 600 exhibits related to the poet and the era in which he lived and worked. Free admission.

  • Museum of History and Regional Studies

    TheMuseumofHistoryand Regional Studies, named after Sayyid Azim Shirvani and located at Shamakhi City Gates, was founded in 1945 and completely reorganized in 2008. Currently, in its halls and storage there are more than 9,000 exhibits. The most ancient exhibits of the museum are dated back to the early Bronze Age (35-33 cc. BC), which are ceramic tableware, pots, and tools found in stone graves. Free admission.
